چکیده
A hierarchical hybrid method combining experimental-database-derived estimation of extraction performance, quantitative structure–property relationship (QSPR)-based assessment IL physical and environmental properties, liquid–liquid (LLE) measurement, process evaluation is proposed to screen practically suitable ionic liquid (IL) solvents for different extractions. From the literature, 47 424 infinite dilution activity coefficient (IDAC) data including 12 families (e.g., imidazolium, pyridinium, ammonium, etc.) 13 organic alkanes, aromatics, alcohols, are collected. On basis IDAC data, performance ILs a specific separation can be estimated in terms distribution ratio selectivity at dilution. The with potentially high meeting properties criteria selected perform LLE experiments. Subsequently, simulation using performed by Aspen Plus. To exemplify method, extractive desulfurization (EDS) taken as case study, where [EMIM][MESO₃] (1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methanesulfonate) [EIM][NO₃] (1-ethylimidazolium nitrate) after database searching QSPR analysis. Experimental two determined, demonstrating their promising maximum (S₂₃ᵐᵃˣ) thiophene/heptane 420 281.9, respectively. By fitting NRTL model correspondingly, processes screened sulfolane developed compared It turns out that save 66% 48% solvent requirements 54% 55% energy consumption those EDS task,

Simulation Study of Ionic Liquid Utilization for Desulfurization of Model Gasoline
With the increased amount of focus is being put towards reducing the emissions results from fossil fuel usually composed of hydrocarbons and impurities. The study aim at utilizing the ability of 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [OMIM][BF4]. Ionic liquid as the suitable solvent for the extraction of the thiophene and its derivatives from the model gasoline. The proces...
متن کاملDehydration of Bioethanol by Hybrid Process Liquid Liquid Extraction/Extractive Distillation
Bioethanol is among the most promising of biofuels because it has an energy content similar to gasoline while generating lower pollutant emissions than gasoline. But, in order to be used as an automotive fuel mixed with gasoline, ethanol must have less than 0.5 wt % of water. To achieve required ethanol purity, in light of the fact that the ethanol water mixture forms an azeotrope, unconvention...

Extractive distillation with ionic liquids as solvents : selection and conceptual process design
In this chapter, a solvent selection methodology for extractive distillation processes is applied to identify promising ionic liquid (IL) solvents for the following separation cases: methylcyclohexane/toluene, 1-hexene/n-hexane and ethanol/water. Thermodynamic and phase stability analysis are done in order to understand the strong interactions between the solutes and the ionic liquids (solvents...
متن کاملIonic Liquid Selection and Performance Evaluation for the Separation of Methylcyclohexane/toluene by Extractive Distillation
The effectiveness of an extractive distillation process relies on the choice of the extractive solvent. The conventional methodology to select solvents is based on Group Contribution Methods. Ionic liquids have shown several advantages over conventional solvents used in extractive distillation and liquid-liquid extraction processes. However, there is no existing methodology to select ILs as sol...
